Born in Silicon Valley, California, I attended university in the UK and lived there until November 2003 when i decided to sample life in Barcelona where i have continued my work by tele-commuting. My professional experience is mainly in the area of bespoke software development, principally in making web applications using Java and PHP, and increasingly in mobile applications using J2ME. In my free time I have also done projects for several groups, which can be accessed from hypnotoad.co.uk.

EXPERIENCE:

• Performed all design, specification, and implementation for J2ME-based mobile phone travel guide application.
• Performed all design, specification, and implementation for supporting website in multiple languages using JSP/Servlets/Struts and MySQL.

• Designed and built new company web site using JSPs with Struts, Flash, and MySQL database.

• Performed java development for web browser-based intranet planning application for construction projects.
• The web application (using Java, Tomcat, and PostgreSQL), communicates with two MFC Windows based applications, to facilitate advanced resource management and other project management tasks.

• Designed and created web site for local rock band.
• Provided the client with a complete content management system, including an auto-updating concert listing, the ability to upload images and audio files, as well as edit all of the text on the pages. Also designed a Java applet that emulates an LCD display showing details of the next concert.

• Designed and developed showcase website for entertainments coordinator Les Hemming.
• Built the 60+ page template-based website using Macromedia Dreamweaver y Fireworks.

• Developed web application for a recruitment consultancy with a small team of developers.
  
• Site is a JSP and servlet application communicating with a PostgreSQL database via Java Beans.
• Site consists of sections for candidates (registration, job search, preferences), clients (registration, registration of vacancies), and colleagues (back-end administration, statistics, page approval, exception reporting) and communicates with the company internal database via a ‘blackboard’ messaging database.
• Personally designed and developed a bean-maker Java program that generates entity beans from database create scripts.
• Facilitated communication between web database and MS SQL7 ‘blackboard’ database.
• Assisted and trained other team members without Java experience.

• Developed web application for a start-up online personalised printing firm with a team of developers.
  
• Site is a complete Enterprise Java Beans based system, utilising JSP, Javascript, Java applets, Java beans and MS-SQL technologies.
• Site consists of a catalogue of printable products such as business cards, t-shirts, mugs, pens, etc., the layout of which can be edited by the user. Users can change content, position, size, and font of text, as well as select from a library of template images or upload their own images in a variety of formats. Other sections in the site include past order search, account details, a complete back-end administration interface, and a payment and loyalty points system utilising the latest 128-bit encryption, with access controlled by a password-protected account structure.

• Developed a Java-based catalogue system for a large computer component reseller with a team of developers.
  
• Site consists mainly of a complex Java applet that communicates with an SQL database to offer services such as catalogue browsing and searching, quote and order creation, and account maintenance.
• Later chosen as the sole developer to implement additional features.
